Yes. Antibiotics can reduce populations of beneficial bacteria, including Lactobacillus species, making it easier for Candida to overgrow. This is one reason some people consider probiotics during or after antibiotic treatment.
Some people experience temporary digestive changes such as mild bloating or gas when first introducing probiotics. However, there is currently limited evidence that probiotics themselves trigger a true “Candida die-off” reaction.
